Yoga for Your Mood

Practices for Anxiety & Depression

  • 25 US dollars

Service Description

Today’s treatments for emotional and mental imbalance leave much to be desired. Pharmaceuticals may help with symptoms, but they can also have serious negative side effects. As cases of depression and anxiety increase, research is being conducted to find more sustainable and accessible treatments. Join us in this exploration of YOGA as THERAPY for STRESS, ANXIETY and DEPRESSION. Yoga has the potential to: -Increase resiliency to stress and change -Address trauma-related symptoms (50% of PTSD sufferers also suffer chronic pain) -Reduce the experience of pain -Stop stress headaches, digestive issues, and other body stress responses -Reduce anxiety and improve sleep -Retrain the mind to focus on what matters most to you, not what worries you most The practice of experiencing mindful body awareness is demonstrated to accelerate change due to the creation of new neural pathways and the ability to tap into the fight or flight response of the animal brain. In this workshop, Jessica will demonstrate through lecture and practice how to increase awareness inside the body. We will integrate breath with movement, and participants will be guided to check in frequently with their bodies. We will practice release of tension to create “NOT depressed” and “NOT anxiety” sensations and examine the quality of mind and breath that accompany them. Jessica Lohrey is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) who specializes in the therapeutic application of yoga for stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression, chronic pain, and physical injuries. Price: $25
